The cottage has kept its bones — wide-plank floors, a clawfoot tub, gingerbread trim — and gained everything you actually need: a bright new kitchen, fast wifi and an outdoor shower for sandy feet. Mornings are coffee on the porch swing; evenings are dinner in the garden under the plum tree. Beach chairs, umbrella, wagon and boogie boards all live in the shed.

Two flat blocks to the sand, three to the Washington Street Mall. Bikes in the shed, beach tags on the hook by the door.
